It has been an exciting few months at Sandy Banks, we welcomed a new Activity Coordinator to the team – Tracey who has arranged many fun and engaging in house activities for the residents. Most recently we had a harpist musician visit the home, it was relaxing event where those who wanted could try out their own musical skills and have a play on the harp or they could sit back and listen to the lovely tunes. Music therapy has been found to have an extremely positive effect on those suffering with Dementia and the day was enjoyed by all.
We were also extremely proud of the staff team for being nominated and winning the Carer of Year award from the local business, Bretherton Funeral Home. They visited the home and awarded three members of the staff team with the award. It was lovely to see the staff team at Sandy Banks receive recognition for the hard work and commitment they display daily to the residents of the home.
Venturi Healthcare recognise the importance of celebrating excellence within care, we want to ensure the extraordinary lengths our staff team go to within each of our homes is acknowledged and rewarded.
As such, the company has recently rolled out a new initiative, the “Annual Care Awards” which recognises individuals who go to extraordinary lengths to deliver our Care Values, ensuring Residents receive responsive, nurturing care from committed genuine individuals. The Care Awards are inclusive and celebrate the hard work of employees across all departments within our service.
Residents, staff and visitors of Sandy Banks Care Home have been nominating those who they believe should be awarded the 2018 Care Award and the winner was Sam – Team Leader.
Sam received lovely comments from those who nominated him,
“Samuel demonstrates a sensitive, person centred approach to residents. He is proactive, organised and extremely sensitive to the people he is supporting. He is polite at all times and he promotes commitment to the service users, colleagues and the company.”
“Sam is a committed, loyal and hardworking team member at Sandy Banks, he is willing to support his team and Residents in anyway possible and this award is truly deserved. Congratulations to Sam! He has continuously proven him self worthy of this award over the years and this is clear from his recent promotion to Team Leader. I think the Care Awards is an excellent initiative to ensure we recognise those who are willing to go the extra mile with their care delivery. A number of the staff received nominations which is a reminder to them that their work is appreciated by all.”
